About Us

Nature’s Country Gold was founded by Adrian & Lania Pohio. Having visited fabulous French markets on a European trip, they were inspired by the role that the markets play in the lives of local communities. On their return they decided to package their wonderful honey in order to share their great products too.

Adrian & Lania’s son Hayden joined the company in 2007 and brings with him the vital skills and experience of a background in Food Technology.

Adrian takes care of the hives and works in conjunction with Hayden in fostering a culture of product innovation. Lania spearheads the marketing side of the business and is proud to be a supporter of, and contributor to the Farmers Market movement in New Zealand.

For the Pohios, quality is paramount and they pride themselves on producing exceptional honey. They exercise quality control from the hive to the container.

To supply the most unique gourmet pure honey sourced from beautiful New Zealand countryside and provide exceptional value added honey products.

What makes our honey unique

• Our honey is creamed by simple addition of a small amount of creamed honey, to the honey from our hives (liquid honey is pasteurized at high temperatures). Creamed honey preserves the amazing and subtle flavours and maintains the integrity of the health properties.
• Attention to detail, from the careful selection of clean frames, to the collection of honey, and the timing of the harvest, are a major part of ensuring pure varieties of the highest standard.
• Honey from various locations is kept separate to ensure that the flavours of the bee’s creations are preserved.
