Manuka Boosta History
|
Manuka Honey is regarded as Nature's Antibiotic. It has long been used in New Zealand as a remedy for coughs and colds and general healing and well being. It is also a fantastic natural product for increasing energy levels. The Manuka Honey used in the Boosta bars is sourced from pristine New Zealand native forests and is world renowned for its unique and delicious flavour.
In 2007, Hayden Pohio, creator of the Manuka Boosta, participated in a rugged 33km mountain run over the Southern Alps of New Zealand. He found that the ‘energy' bars available at the time left a lot to be desired and it was during this challenging multi-sport event that Manuka Boosta's recipe was conceived.
It was the synergy of family expertise that combined to create something special. Hayden's mum has a favourite honey bar recipe; his Dad is a beekeeper and Hayden is trained as food technologist. The recipe was first developed in his Mum's kitchen and tested by discerning palates at the local farmers market. The bars quickly became a hit and in 2009 a Manuka Boosta factory was launched. |
